Christmas Day was extra special in Stevenage this year, as Fairlands Valley Park saw a record-breaking 739 people take part in the festive Stevenage parkrun! Runners, joggers, and walkers of all ages came together to celebrate the holiday in the most active way possible, smashing the previous attendance record.
The atmosphere was amazing, with loads of people dressing up in Santa hats, elf outfits, and other Christmas costumes. Even if you weren’t running, you couldn’t help but smile at all the holiday spirit. There were 16 people trying parkrun for the first time, and 70 participants celebrated the day by smashing their personal bests!
Of course, none of this could’ve happened without the amazing volunteers who helped everything run smoothly. Their hard work showed just how great the Stevenage community is when it comes to bringing people together.
The parkrun at Fairlands Valley Park is one of those awesome things, getting people out, moving, and having fun every week.
If you missed out this time, don’t worry! Stevenage parkrun happens every Saturday morning, and it’s open to everyone—whether you’re a speedy runner, a steady walker, or just want to help out as a volunteer. It’s all about having a good time and feeling part of the community. If you don’t want to run or walk, there are plenty of volunteer opportunities – reach out to the incredible team via their website for more information.
