The Women In Business Network (WIBN) is a shining beacon for women in the business world. Launched in 2005, WIBN came into existence when business networking opportunities were scarce, especially those aimed at supporting women. The founders saw a gap and wanted to create a supportive environment where women could thrive. Since then, WIBN has grown and opened groups across the UK, all to empower women through collaboration, confidence building, and business development.
What’s the best part of WIBN? Without a doubt, it’s the support. Imagine being part of a group where everyone is rooting for your success. That’s what WIBN offers. It’s where you’ll find camaraderie, encouragement, and advice from women who understand your challenges. The network is built on the foundation of mutual support, making it a truly unique and uplifting experience.
WIBN is reaching an incredible milestone in 2025 – its 20th anniversary. It’s a testament to the network’s and its members’ strength and resilience. Locally, WIBN is hosting a BIG Summer Networking Event on 7th August at The Cromwell in Stevenage. This event is open to all local businesswomen, whether you’re employed or running your own business. It’s a great opportunity to connect, learn, and grow. There will be a guest speaker, lunch, and plenty of networking opportunities. Early bird tickets are available now, and you can book your spot here.
Besides this grand event, WIBN also runs two regular Stevenage Women In Business Networking groups at The Cromwell Hotel. These meetings are structured and business-focused, held on the second Wednesday of each month. There’s a morning session from 9-11 and an afternoon session from 12-2. If you’re looking to grow your business in a supportive environment, these meetings are perfect for you. Whether you work part-time, full-time, or have a side hustle, you’re welcome to join. You can contact Louise for more information and to book your spot.
And don’t forget to save the date for 7th March 2025, when WIBN will celebrate International Women’s Day at The Cromwell. It’s another fantastic opportunity to connect and celebrate the achievements of women in business.
Charity Work: Giving Back to the Community
WIBN is not just about business; it’s also about giving back. Over the years, WIBN has supported numerous charities, including the Stevenage Community Trust. Members have participated in walking half marathons, virtual marathons, quiz nights, and other fundraising events. Last year’s summer event raised £1,100, which was donated to five different charity members. This spirit of giving back is a core part of WIBN’s ethos.
Why did WIBN choose Stevenage? Stevenage was one of the first groups to launch back in 2005. The town and its surrounding areas are bustling with businesses, making it an ideal location for a networking group. WIBN has a strong presence in Stevenage, with many members benefitting from the supportive environment. The group’s success even led to the launch of a morning group in 2023 to accommodate the growing number of members.
Who Can Join?
Wondering if you can join WIBN? If you’re involved with a business or organisation in any capacity, you’re welcome to join. You don’t need to have a Limited Company; you can work for an organisation or a charity, be full-time, part-time, or working on a side hustle. The only requirement is your commitment to getting involved. WIBN operates a professional lockout system, meaning once someone from a particular category joins, others from the same category can’t. This ensures diversity and opportunities for all members.
Many women hesitate to join because of nerves. It’s completely understandable, but rest assured, the group is welcoming and supportive. By the time you leave your first meeting, you’ll feel inspired, motivated, and glad you came.
What’s Next for WIBN?
The future looks bright for WIBN. Nationally, the network aims to launch groups in every major town across England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. Locally, WIBN is expanding across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. The next group launch is in Welwyn Garden City this September. If you’re interested, do get in touch about the launch meeting. It’s a fantastic opportunity to be part of a growing network dedicated to empowering women in business.
