West Herts CC (2nd XI) v Stevenage CC (1st XI)
Stevenage CC won by 113 runs

Stevenage 1st XI exacted revenge in emphatic style on Saturday with a commanding 113-run victory away to West Herts CC, turning the tables after losing the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, Stevenage posted a strong total of 243 for 9 from 48 overs, built around a magnificent century from Kawalpreet Singh, who blasted 141 from just 100 balls, including 7 fours and a remarkable 13 sixes. Incredibly 6 of those 6’s came in one over. His powerful innings anchored the entire batting effort and took the game away from the hosts.

Supporting contributions came from Conor Crosland (31) and Michael Tyler (23), but it was Singh’s assault that lit up the innings. Despite a few stumbles in the middle order, Stevenage kept the scoreboard ticking and reached a highly competitive total.

In reply, West Herts were dismissed for 130 in exactly 40 overs, as Stevenage’s bowling attack shared the honours to wrap up the points clinically. With a sharp display in the field and disciplined bowling throughout, Stevenage sealed an important 30-point win and continued their charge up the Division 2A table.

Extras were kept to a minimum, and the fielding was sharp, underlining a professional team effort. Stevenage are third in the table and the win puts them one point above their opponents. They are 12 points behind Ampthill with a similar record but batting and bowling points making the difference (See the attached table).

2nd XI – Defeated by 117 runs at home to Hatfield Hyde CC (1st XI)
It was a tough day for the 2nd XI who fell to a heavy defeat against a strong Hatfield Hyde side. Despite dismissing the opposition for 158 in 49.2 overs, Stevenage collapsed to just 41 all out in 15.1 overs. A disappointing result, but not entirely surprising as several players were drafted up to the first team.

3rd XI – Nail-biting 1-wicket win over Baldock CC (1st XI)
The 3rd XI were involved in the match of the day, edging past Baldock CC by a single wicket. After bowling out Baldock for 120 in 31.4 overs, Stevenage chased down the target with 9 wickets down in the 32nd over. A nerve-jangling finish, but one that earned the team a full 30 points and showed tremendous grit under pressure.

4th XI – Narrow loss to Southgate Compton CC (1st XI)
The 4th XI fought hard but came up short against Southgate Compton. Batting first, Stevenage were all out for 159 in 37.1 overs. The home side chased down the total for the loss of no wickets in 39.2 overs. Despite the result, the team picked up 16 points and will look to bounce back next week.
