Sport in the Park Event in Hampson Park was a great success, doing a fantastic job of promoting sporting activities in Stevenage.

The community gathered at Hampson Park on Wednesday, 28 August 2024, for the annual Sport in the Park event, a day filled with free activities and fun for all ages. The event, which ran until 3 pm, was a hit, drawing families from across Stevenage to enjoy a variety of sports and games in the summer sun.

This year’s event was made even more special by the attendance of Stevenage Mayor Jim Brown and Labour representative Kevin Bonavia. Jim, who has long been an advocate for community engagement through sports, was thrilled to see such a great turnout. He praised the event for bringing people together and promoting physical activity, which aligns with his ongoing efforts to support local sports clubs through initiatives like Sport Stevenage.

Participants of all ages enjoyed activities ranging from football skills workshops and basketball games to more unique offerings like welly wanging and karate demonstrations. The event provided an excellent opportunity for families to spend quality time together while staying active.
