Josie’s passion for children’s physical development and joy shines through in everything she does.

When asked what attracted her to Stevenage as a location for the franchise, she shared, “I was already living in Stevenage with my family, and when the opportunity for a North Herts franchise came up, it felt like it was meant to be.”

Josie’s background may surprise some. She holds a BA (Hons) in Arts and Festival Management and previously worked in retail management. However, when her first child was born during the pandemic, she longed for a role that allowed her to interact with people while still balancing family life. “My son had attended Tumble Tots from the age of two, and seeing the skills and confidence he gained made me want to provide that same experience to other children.”

When asked about the most rewarding part of running Tumble Tots Stevenage, Josie said, “Seeing the children progress and celebrating milestones with them is amazing. From watching little ones take their first steps to seeing shy children come out of their shells and overcome challenges, every moment is special.”

Josie believes the programme offers enormous benefits for children in the local community, both physically and socially. “The NHS recommends that children under five get 180 minutes of physical activity a day. We give parents and their little ones a fun space to do some of that time together, outside the house. It’s one of the best things to do with children in Stevenage.

She also highlighted the social benefits. “Some children aren’t in childcare yet, so they get to interact with others and learn from each other, while parents make new friends too.”

Josie is proud to be part of a programme with a long legacy. “Tumble Tots has been running for 45 years, and we even see former Tumble Tots return with their own children. It’s a testament to the strength of the programme that it remains so successful after all these years.”

She is quick to credit her small but dedicated team. “We’re all parents, so we understand what our families are going through. We support not just the children’s development but also have friendly chats with parents. It makes a big difference.”

Asked how she stays motivated, Josie shared, “It’s easy to stay passionate when you see the joy on the children’s faces. Every time one of our Tots crawls, walks, or conquers a new challenge, I feel proud. If the day ever comes where I don’t feel that excitement, it’ll be time to pass on the torch.”

Looking ahead, Josie hopes to expand Tumble Tots Stevenage to meet growing demand. “Our walking-to-twos classes are full, and we even have a waiting list! I’d love to add more classes, expand the team, and eventually offer weekend sessions for parents who work during the week.”
