What a Weekend of Running for the Striders!
The weekend kicked off with a bang as the Striders took over the parkrun, covering the lakes in a sea of red diamonds. A massive congratulations to all the runners who participated, giving their all on the course. An even bigger round of applause goes to Dani, Chrissie, and all the volunteers who worked tirelessly to set up, cheer on, and encourage the runners throughout the event.
Lucy Crocker, our ladies captain, competed in the Battersea Park 10k last Wednesday. As always, Lucy was outstanding, clocking a time of 44 minutes and 43 seconds, setting a personal best and finishing as the 4th female of the evening. Furthermore, she achieved the remarkable feat of breaking the Striders ladies’ 10k club record.
Sunday was no different, offering Striders three different options for a long run. From the famous 7km sheep run, an 8km route starting from Hampson Park, to a challenging 10-miler in Bennington, there was something for everyone. Smiles, laughter, and a great time were had by all as they ran through the countryside, soaking in the fresh air, picturesque landscapes, and even spotting a few animals along the way.
The spirit of camaraderie and joy was evident throughout the weekend, showcasing the true essence of the Striders community. Whether it was conquering the parkrun, exploring the countryside on a long run, or simply enjoying the company of fellow runners, it was a weekend to remember for all involved.
