On 31 August 2024, the Stevenage and North Herts Athletics Club (SNHAC) held their annual championships at Ridlins Track. This event was extra special because the club took the time to honour Norma Harris, who has been the club’s secretary for many years and is now retiring.
Norma Harris has been a huge part of SNHAC, working hard behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. She has helped the club grow and made sure that everyone feels welcome. Her dedication has made a big difference, and she’s been a friendly face for everyone at the club.
During the event, Paul Pickard, the Club Chair, led a special presentation to thank Norma for everything she’s done. He spoke about how important Norma has been to the club and how much her hard work has meant to everyone. It was clear that Norma’s efforts have helped make SNHAC the great club it is today.
The presentation was also attended by Stevenage Mayor Jim Brown and Mayoress Penny Schenkel, who joined in celebrating Norma’s contributions. They both thanked Norma for her years of service and praised her for the positive impact she’s had on the athletics community.
Norma Harris’s retirement is a big moment for the club, but her influence will continue to be felt for a long time. She has helped build a strong, supportive club that will keep thriving, even as she steps back. Everyone at SNHAC will remember her fondly and be grateful for all she’s done.
