England WU23s Set for Exciting Clash in Stevenage

The England WU23s are led by captain Missy Bo Kearns, with Emma Coates as head coach. Kearns, alongside Kayla Rendell, holds the title of longest-standing player in the squad, while she also boasts the most appearances. For midfielder Maisie Symonds, wearing the England shirt is a dream come true:
“It’s my dream to play for England; it’s always an honour to get called up and put the shirt on. I’m really looking forward to Tuesday’s game and having the chance to play against France.”

A New Challenge in Stevenage

Defender Naomi Layzell is particularly excited about playing in Stevenage for the first time:
“I’m excited to play against France in Stevenage, it’s a new ground which we haven’t played at before and I’ve never been to the town before. Playing in new and different parts of the country is so important as it allows us to reach different fans. I’m looking forward to it. France will be a tough test, so hopefully, it’ll be a great game for the fans to watch.”

Reflecting on a standout moment, Layzell recalls a hard-fought victory over France:
“We had a really tough game against France last season, playing away from home. It was a really strong team performance, we all rallied around one another, defended for each other, and we ended up winning 1-0 and taking home the win.”

Advice for Young Footballers in Stevenage

For aspiring footballers in Stevenage, both players offered words of encouragement. Symonds emphasised the importance of enjoying the journey:
“Just enjoy yourself and have fun with your friends. Don’t worry about what’s going to come of it or the future, just enjoy spending time with your friends and making memories.”

Layzell added:
“When opportunities come, back yourself and make the most of them.”
