Stevenage Borough Council is excited to announce the official opening of a brand-new play area at Town Centre Gardens. The community is invited to join the festivities on Monday, 24 March, starting at 11 am. No booking is required, so families can simply come along and enjoy the new facilities.
The council invested £250,000 to create a space that caters to children of all abilities, aged up to 16. The play area features a variety of equipment, including a group swing, activity trail, trampoline, inclusive roundabout, and a bespoke pirate ship. These installations were selected based on feedback from local children, young people, and pupils from Broom Barns School, ensuring the space meets the community’s desires.
Councillor Simon Speller, Cabinet Member for Environment, expressed his gratitude to residents for their patience during the refurbishment
“This is a popular and well-used site, and we wanted to make sure that the refurbished play area could be used and loved by children for years to come. I am delighted to see the project come to fruition and hope that the new play area is enjoyed by families now and in the future.”
This initiative is part of Stevenage’s ongoing commitment to enhance recreational spaces for its residents. The Town Centre Gardens’ new play area is set to become a cherished spot for families, fostering community spirit and providing a safe environment for children to play and grow.
