Stevenage-based 1decision has been crowned the winner of the Teach Primary Awards 2024 Wellbeing category for its excellence in PSHE/Personal Development, with the organiser describing the recognition as an “incredible achievement.”
Run by Teach Primary magazine, the awards help educators to seek out the “very best resources to support their Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils” – with quality determined by a panel of primary experts. Its nine categories allow them to “dig deep into the curriculum, to ensure only the most deserving resources triumph.”
For the Wellbeing category, which is open to educational resources that promote happiness and health for pupils and teachers alike, judges assessed their suitability, educational impact, durability, originality, value for money, and accessibility.
1decision’s entry focused on its interactive PSHE, Relationships and Health Education and Personal Development resources for primary children in 2,000 schools in 47 counties across the UK and international schools in 19 countries. It offers schools original and engaging topic-based resources to enhance and evidence the delivery of statutory RHE through PSHE and wider personal, social and emotional development for children aged 3-11, helping them prepare children for secondary education and life beyond.
The submission also highlighted 1decision’s long history of supporting primary schools to reach ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ for personal development.
In a further accolade, Teach Primary’s sister awards scheme Teach Early Years Awards 2024 chose 1decision’s Personal, Social and Emotional Development entry as a finalist in the Happy and Healthy category. These awards are a celebration of the quality of the sector’s educational and professional development resources, and offer suppliers the chance to have their most innovative products and publications recognised.
The finalists and winners were chosen by an expert panel of early years’ leaders, consultants and educators.
1decision’s submission profiled its comprehensive suite of resources for 3-7 year olds, which are designed to support early childhood educators and help children navigate the complexities of the world around them whilst celebrating differences, embracing diversity, and build understanding of the uniqueness of communities. It also showcased their new app, offering unprecedented support beyond the school environment.
Hayley Sherwood, CEO of 1decision, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to win the Wellbeing category in this year’s Teach Primary Awards, and to also be a finalist in the Happy and Healthy category for the Teach Early Years Awards.
“Separately, we have received the fabulous news that we have been shortlisted for the Education Today School & Suppliers Awards 2024 Wellbeing Resource or Support of the Year category, with the award ceremony taking place on 6th December. This all follows on from our shortlisting for the Educational Resource Awards – Primary at the Education Business Awards 2024 earlier this year, making it a hugely successful year.
“This external recognition of our resources is certainly a testament to everyone’s hard work and unwavering commitment. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated team, partners and educators who trust 1decision to make a difference in their classrooms.”
1decision, which is now also offering a free personal development service for schools, is also a partner in Lessons4Life, a multi-collaborative initiative, which focuses on the prioritisation of greater personal development and life skills education in schools. The national campaign is advocating for increased funding, training, and dedicated time within the school curriculum, with the aim of providing better tools and support.
