The Stevenage Striders had an eventful week with a successful 5km handicap race, a wet and soggy parkrun, a challenging long run, and impressive individual achievements.
The 5km handicap series on Tuesday night saw 50 Striders participating, with many achieving personal bests and showing great sportsmanship by encouraging their fellow members.
Saturday’s parkrun may have been rainy, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the runners, who were all smiles as they crossed the finish line. Sunday’s long run took the team over hills and through valleys, providing an adventurous and enjoyable workout for all.
One of many standout performances from the weekend was Chris Rowlands taking on the Man vs Coast challenge in Cornwall. Despite the grueling 40km race with 1370m of elevation gain, including sea wading and mountain running, Chris finished in an impressive 78th place in just over 5 and a half hours.
In addition, a group of Striders and their families participated in the Stevenage Race for Life cancer run, each running for their own personal reasons while raising funds for cancer research and awareness.
Overall, it was a week filled with challenges, achievements, and camaraderie for the Stevenage Striders, showcasing the strength and spirit of its members.
