Last Thursday, the Stevenage Striders showcased their running prowess at the final round of the Herts Midweek League held in Barnet. Both the men’s and women’s teams delivered stellar performances, each finishing in 3rd place for the night. This consistent excellence secured the club an overall 3rd place finish in the league, just 6 points shy of the second-place team.
This commendable performance not only underscores the Striders’ competitive spirit but also earns them a well-deserved promotion to Division 2. This marks a significant achievement for the club, reflecting the hard work and dedication of its members throughout the season.
Spartan Midlands Obstacle Races: A Display of Endurance and Grit
The weekend brought another thrilling challenge for the Striders as several members participated in the Spartan Midlands Obstacle races, held in the picturesque countryside of Lincolnshire. The event, renowned for its grueling courses and demanding obstacles, was the perfect stage for the Striders to demonstrate their resilience and athleticism.
Adam Hough: A Beast of a Performance
Adam Hough had an exceptional weekend, starting with the Spartan Beast, a 21 km race that pushes competitors to their limits with over 30 obstacles. Adam completed this formidable course in an impressive 2 hours, 25 minutes, and 49 seconds. Not content with conquering just one race, Adam also took on the Spartan Sprint, finishing the first in 1 hour, 14 minutes, and 53 seconds. His endurance and tenacity saw him through the Spartan Super in 1 hour, 18 minutes, and 9 seconds, and he wrapped up his weekend by completing a second Spartan Sprint in a rapid 43 minutes and 5 seconds.
Ben Ward: Speed and Stamina
Ben Ward also demonstrated remarkable speed and stamina, finishing the second Spartan Sprint in under an hour. His performance was a testament to the rigorous training and unyielding determination that are hallmarks of the Stevenage Striders.
