Another busy week for the club with representation at the 10k midweek league fixture at Trent Park on Thursday and racing at Panshanger Park, Regents Park, Weston and Hyde Hall Farm near Buntingford. Let’s look at the details.

10k midweek league – Race 4, Trent Park

On Thursday evening, eleven members of the club joined our friends at the Stevenage and North Herts AC team to take on the final points scoring 10k fixture at Trent Park. Always a challenging multi terrain course, the team embraced the hills!!!

The men’s team had a very strong third place finish, pushing out local rivals Stevenage Striders into fourth place. Unfortunately the ladies couldn’t match that and overall the team finished 5th out of the 10 teams in the division. Nevertheless the team have had an improved performance this season and it positions them positively for next year’s promotion push!!

He also broke the club age category record in a time of 37 mins 44 secs. His result also enabled him to complete the Crystal level Personal Performance Award, the first time a member of the club has done that.

The Cock a Doodle Dawdle

A trip to Hyde Hall Farm near Buntingford was the order of the day on Sunday for Mark Legate and Lewis Green. The event was organised by Zig Zag running using their popular 6 hour challenge format where runners run as many of the 3.3 mile undulating trail lap in 6 hours.

Mark Legate completed four laps for a half marathon in 2 hours 31 mins 41 secs whilst Lewis Green just kept going for a total of 9 laps (29.7 miles) in 5 hours 51 mins 23 secs.

Great running!

Strive for 12

James Woodcock took on a different type of challenge on Saturday, called the Strive for 12. Runners started together on the hour to complete a 5k route.  On their return to the start they had until the clock reached the hour again to recover before they set off again on the 5km route. Runners continued to run 5km each hour until they could go no further or they completed a total of 12 laps. James Woodcock was on his 7th lap when he turned his ankle badly and had to stop. He will be back!
