Midweek 10k mob match
The final fixture of the 10k midweek league series, known as the mob match, is a race where clubs from all three divisions can field sides. Unfortunately, the fixture was on Wednesday evening and started just before England took on Holland in the Euro semi final. The number of runners taking part was much reduced but nevertheless the club fielded seven runners to take part in the Stevenage and North Herts AC colours.
First home was Alex Wasley in another strong run of 41 minutes 22 seconds. He was followed by Edwin Smith in 44 mins 44 seconds and Conor O’Neill in 45 minutes 30 seconds. First lady home was Katka Kaughton in 55 minutes 20 minutes.
Ken Hall finished in 52 minutes 7 seconds and picked up the trophy for first male vet 70 in the race series for division 3.
Martin Wasley (61 mins 51 seconds) and Zoe Shreeve (63 mins 34 seconds) completed the club results.
The London 10k
Amongst over 18,000 runners in the city, a pair of Phoenicians completed the London 10k on Sunday. Samantha Webster had a strong run finishing with a personal best time of 58:15. That finish also enabled her to complete the club’s Tin level personal performance award. Charlie Day was back running and finished in 1:21:15.
Harbour Wallbanger 7k
On Sunday, Jon Boe took part in the Harbour Wallbanger 7k. This long-standing race starts on the beach at Broadstairs at low tide and runs all the way to Ramsgate where runners bang the Harbour Wall before returning to Broadstairs. Jon finished in 47 minutes 52 seconds.
