Essex & Herts Air Ambulance opens new Charity Shop in Stevenage

New Charity Shop in Stevenage

The Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) is delighted to announce the opening of its tenth charity shop in Stevenage. This new addition, located at 14 The Forum, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, SG1 1EH, is more than just a retail outlet; it stands as a testament to the unwavering support and dedication of the Stevenage community and marks a significant milestone in EHAAT’s mission to save lives.

Each EHAAT charity shop is tailored to reflect the unique character of its local community, and the Stevenage shop is no exception. It offers a selection of quality pre-loved goods at affordable prices, housed in a bright and inviting space. Donations are welcomed either directly at the shop or at the Donation Centre located at Access Business Park, open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

In the past year, the generous contributions from the Stevenage community helped raise an impressive £200,000 through the Donation Centre. These funds are crucial for supporting EHAAT’s life-saving missions and have a positive environmental impact as well. Every donation not only supports the charity but also contributes to a more sustainable planet, making it a win-win for all involved.

EHAAT is also looking to expand its team in Stevenage. Volunteering at the shop offers a rewarding opportunity to support a local life-saving cause. Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to speak to a member of the shop team. The charity emphasizes that its operations heavily rely on the dedication of its volunteers.

The opening of the Stevenage shop is a reminder of the essential role that community support plays in keeping EHAAT operational. The service, which costs over £1 million monthly to maintain, receives limited direct government funding and none from the National Lottery. It is the goodwill of the people in Essex and Hertfordshire that sustains the charity’s critical services.

EHAAT’s services cover Essex, Hertfordshire, and surrounding areas, providing Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) to the critically ill and injured. The charity operates two air ambulances and four rapid response vehicles (RRVs), staffed by a team of two pilots, a pre-hospital care doctor, and a critical care paramedic. In 2023, these teams attended 2,705 missions, ranging from road traffic collisions to medical emergencies and accidental injuries.

The new Stevenage shop is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Angela Beatty, the Manager, and Tracy Ives, the Assistant Manager, look forward to welcoming shoppers and volunteers from Saturday, 29th June.
